These are just a few of the questions that beset the newcomer to electronics. This book describes in detail how to build 30 electronics projects, several entirely original, for fun or for their usefulness in and around the home. They are graded into those suitable for the absolute beginner, those easily built after a little experience, and those which offer a slightly greater challenger. Most of the projects require very few components sao they can be assembled with the minimum of expense. All operate on low-voltage batteries, and are entirely safe for the novice. The projects are set out in the second section of the book. In the first section are given full details and explanations of all that the beginner needs to know in order to build them and get them working. This is the easy way to get stated in practical electronics and, at the same time, to begin to understand some of the theory. The reader can choose to build most of the projects - either on a breadboard (so he can use the same parts to build other projects later), or on stripboard or on a printed circuit board. PCB designs are included in the book.
