Das sowohl gestalterisch als auch inhaltlich hochgeachtete Buch trug erheblich zum Einfluss der japanischen Ästhetik auf die westliche Architektur, Kunst und Grafik bei. Mies van der Rohe etwa verschenkte es an seine Freunde. Angereichert wird der Reprint durch einen Text zur Geschichte des Buches von Christian W. Blaser, Werner Blasers Sohn, einen Beitrag von Inge Andritz über Mies van der Rohe und die japanische Architektur sowie ein persönliches Nachwort von Tadao Ando.
