Die aramaische Achikarkomposition aus dem funften Jahrhundert v. Chr. ist die alteste bekannte Uberlieferung eines weit verbreiteten literarischen Stoffs. Ann-Kristin Wigand geht vom Fundort Elephantine aus und fragt in der vorliegenden Studie nach der Funktion und Rezeption des aramaischen Weisheitstextes im perserzeitlichen Agypten. Die Untersuchung der Textgestalt in Verbindung mit dem literarischen und soziohistorischen Kontext zeigt, dass der Text zur Legitimierung der persischen Fremdmacht gedient haben kann und zur Ausbildung von Beamten in einem multiethnisch gepragten Umfeld genutzt wurde. Zugleich hat die aramaische Achikarkomposition Teil an einem regen literarischen Austausch zwischen aramaischer und demotischer Literatur in der Spatzeit. Die Autorin argumentiert, dass die Achikarkomposition dabei im Punkt der eingeforderten Loyalitat zum Fremdherrscher als Gegenerzahlung zu den demotischen Erzahlungen gelesen werden kann.
