About this product

Product Information

The letters of John Keats written between 1816 and 1821 are passionate, revealing, and sensitive. Furthermore, it was within the context of these letters that many of the poems first appeared. Perry Keenlyside has selected some of the most revealing of Keats' letters to reveal the state of mind and attitudes of one of the most loved poets in the English language.

Reviews
The sensibility of John Keats to his imminent death lends a tragic intensity to this selection of letters and poems. This is enhanced by the fine performance of Samuel West, whose rich, young voice embodies the passion and precision so characteristic of the poet's brilliant and questing mind. The occasional commentary by Matthew Marsh is in deep, slow contrast to West's readings. Like other Naxos recordings, the piano interludes--in this case, a selection of Mendelssohn's piano works and his 'Songs without Words'--allow the listener reflective moments to digest the material. The whole is thoughtful and conducive to fully appreciating Keats's lyricism.

VERY HAPPY with my purchase. This is the exact book and exact cover that I wanted (the blue cover). It was very difficult to find the blue cover version in my area, so I was very happy to see that this shop carried it. Shipping time was normal - it was a day or so late, but I think that had more to do with the mail system. It was packaged well. It arrived safely. Brand new book. The item matched the description.
