Reviews
I agree with the author that New England is a forager's paradise. His book is a testimony to this, over-flowing with 160 useful plants. His herb walks must be interesting since this is a fun read with its tips from experience, how his grandfather used herbs, and interesting factoids. Like a true forager, Seymour organizes it according to where plants are found, such as streams, woods, swamps, or seashore, making it easy to compare plants of the same terrain. Each edible has simple preparation advice with most eaten raw or cooked and salted. Medicinal properties are mentioned, but wild edibles take the stage here. Burdock (Arctium lappa) only has its edibility discussed. A naturalist, Seymour teaches foraging classes and writes books on Maine's mushrooms and berries
