Built in secret prior to WWII by Japan, these two ships terrorized Allied forces where ever they were rumored to be. Both were sunk by overwhelming waves of American carrier-borne aircraft. A 3rd ship was started but was converted to an aircraft carrier, the "Shinano". It was sunk by submarine.
