Seller notes: “Good/Very Good overall vintage condition: This pair of early 20th century polychrome painted wooden ... “Good/Very Good overall vintage condition: This pair of early 20th century polychrome painted wooden folk art figures of standing men with hats and period attire, are untouched and in 100% original, 'as-found' condition. They are chip-carved figures out of a single plinth block of most probably pine. They have tremendous folk-art appeal and appear to be works of an untrained hand, nonetheless motivated to realize something from his own hand. The smaller of the pair of figures is of a man clad in a black suit or in his fineries with a hat. The second taller figure is of a male figure with a red hat and blue jersey. Both men are wearing charcoal grey pants. The figures are mounted on brass pins that support the figures on more modern, routered oak wooden stands. They rotate freely on the brass pins. The figures are a wonderful example of early 20th c. American folk art carving. They have undeniable presence and charm. This is what the folk art craze was all about ...this.”
