Seller notes: “Interesting piece of original work by English equestrian painter Edward Craven, who was active ... “Interesting piece of original work by English equestrian painter Edward Craven, who was active during the early decades of the twentieth century. The painting is inspired by a handicap steeplechase that took place in 1925 at Hurst Park, a now-closed racecourse in Surrey, England. The work is signed on the lower left, 'E. Craven' and is presented in a 19th century antique gilt frame. For links to examples of Edward Craven's work, please refer to the full description.The work is in a good condition overall. The canvas board shows a marginal curvature, with the centre area protruding slightly. Light dirt and varnish yellowing can be detected, as well as several small areas of paint loss that have been filled in. The frame is also in good antique condition with light damages/restoration to corners and edges, surface wear and dirt.”
