In the Spring of 1857, with India on the brink of a violent and bloody mutiny, Krishnapur is a remote town on the vast North Indian plain. For the British there, life is orderly and genteel. They prepare to fight for their lives with what weapons they can muster. As food and ammunition grow short, the Residency, its defences battered by shot and shell and eroded by the rains, becomes ever more vulnerable. The Siege of Krishnapur is a modern classic of narrative excitement that also digs deep to explore some fundamental questions of civilisation and life.

This book is an eye opener because it's contents are awful 😭 don't get me wrong it's a brilliantly written book but this true story is so sad it made me cry, I recommend you have a box of tissues to hand when you read this, as it will be in your mind for quite a while you'll be riveted from beginning to end 😮💨 I highly recommend this book because it opens our hearts and minds to the suffering that goes on behind closed doors all around us and no one would guess everyone needs to read this
