Product Information
This programme recounts the events of April 11, 1970, when Jim Lovell, Fred Haise, and Jack Swigert were set to become the third group of astronauts to walk on the moon, until their oxygen tank sprang a leak over 200,000 miles away from Earth. The Mission Control crew in Houston, led by astronaut Ken Mattingly and Flight Director Gene Kranz, struggled to bring the craft home while the world waited on tenterhooks for an outcome that promised to be dire. With one oxygen tank empty and the other quickly leaking, the spacecraft would soon have no electrical power, making the possibility of reaching safety increasingly remote. The documentary also looks at the other American space missions leading up to Apollo 13.Product Identifiers
