NotesBruce spent much of his youth either on boats or on the shores of the Chesapeake Bay. He started writing at an early age and in his teens he began combining his words to the music that he was composing on both the piano and the guitar. In his early 20's he set out on the road in a school bus he converted into a camper and spent a number of years traveling around the country performing his songs in any tavern or coffeehouse that would have him. The many out of the ordinary situations and characters that he encountered during those years give him an insight into life that few people possess and this unique combination of adventurous spirit, creativity and individualism is reflected in his songs. Eventually Bruce returned to the Chesapeake Bay area and re-discovered his love of boating, sailing and just being out on the water. With that in mind it was only natural that he would combine that love with his love for playing music and songwriting and he soon found that he had an audience at the waterfront venues and marinas requesting his original material. Folks were requesting CD's and so he decided to go with the flow and record a CD geared toward the following he had developed. His debut CD entitled, 'Stinkpot & Rags,' was very well received and continues to sell. It exemplifies Bruce's skills as a singer/songwriter as well as his love of the boating/sailing lifestyle. With the release of his 2nd CD, "Boat Logic," Bruce's explores new musical territory with his songs. Musical styles vary from song to song and cover many different genres yet they all share the boating/sailing/cruising theme in some way. It's also obvious that Bruce himself has done more exploring and soul searching since the release of his first CD. Bruce has expanded his cruising grounds and gained valuable off-shore experience while helping to deliver yachts up and down the East Coast. He also served as mate for a period of time aboard a privately owned 70' yacht and, along with the owner/operator, visited ports up down the Eastern Seaboard. These opportunities allowed him to experience the kind of cruising that most only dream of, hone his boating and navigational skills, and also spread his music to others who appreciate the lifestyle. His CD's are now standard equipment on many boats that are cruising between the Caribbean Islands and New England. More important than any of that is the fact that Bruce's off-shore passages provide him with inspiration for many new songs and ideas and that is clearly apparent on this CD. "Boat Logic" is filled with images of being underway and cruising to distant destinations. It not only touches upon our desire to go cruising and have fun but also reaches inside to that part of us all that is on a never ending quest to find one's true self. Boat Logic: Don't leave port without it.
