In THE GENERAL (1927)--widely considered to be the actor-director's greatest film--Keaton refines his physical comedy to elegant perfection through the story of a Confederate engineer who singlehandedly takes on the entire Union army in order to win back his prized locomotive and Southern-belle sweetheart. COLLEGE (1927) details Keaton's slapstick exploits as a brainy student who goes to ridiculous lengths to become an athlete in order to impress a coed. And in PARLOR, BEDROOM AND BATH (1931), Keaton poses as a romantic lothario in order to help an acquaintance marry off his girlfriend's spinster sister.
