Have you ever wanted to relive some of the classic, historical moments from the Civil War? Well, you can with Edward Grabowski's The Blue and the Gray from Impressions. This is a 2D turn-based strategy game with real-time combat for Windows 95. Get ready to enter the classic battles and legendary encounters that happened at Gettysburg, Fredericksburg and Washington. Move battalions around large battle terrain and control them in their positioning, attack strategies and formation. Once you have made moves to initiate a battle, the action will commence. Set up your soldiers in the proper formations, designate waypoints and then press "play." Now the encounter will begin and your soldiers move into their positions and open fire on the enemy. The battles force you to use strategy and have quick hands if you want to succeed. There are many different weapons and infantry units you control as well. Light gunners, cannons and cavalry can all be sent up to the front lines or used as reinforcements. Historic battles can be viewed to give a better understanding of the time period and the intensity of the war. If you need to be educated on a certain battle, strategic approach or some other aspect of the war, this option provides the opportunity. The game features music from the Civil War era.
