Vine-swinging mayhem ensues as George (Brendan Fraser), a clumsy but well-meaning jungle dweller, meets and falls in love with beautiful explorer Ursula (Leslie Mann) after rescuing her from a rampaging lion. Unfortunately, George is too dense to see that Ursula has the hots for him and he tries all the jungle courtship rituals he knows to win her from her betrothed, aided by his faithful gorilla retainer (hilariously voiced by John Cleese) and his pet elephant, Shep. When baring his fangs and beating his chest fails, George tries being himself and, when Ursula finally calls off her wedding to the snooty Lyle Van de Groot (Thomas Haden Church), she returns to San Francisco with her new mate in tow. When the disaster-prone George is let loose on the streets of San Francisco the fun really starts!
