Additional informationEMI's Good Vibrations, while not a Beach Boys tribute, does include two cuts from the surf-pop pioneers, including "God Only Knows" and the aforementioned title cut. Using the group's titular summer anthem as its foundation, the remaining 56 tracks, which are spread out over the span of three discs, do their best to replicate those swell vibes. Peppered with early rock & roll classics from the likes of Eddie Cochran, Jerry Lee Lewis, the Everly Brothers, and the Ventures, Good Vibrations plays like a great oldies radio station, and with the exception of the Animals' dark, electrifying take on the super depressing folk song "House of the Rising Sun," it's as sunny as it is golden. ~ James Christopher Monger
