NotesThe Ravyns burst onto the music scene in 1982 with their radio hit 'Raised On The Radio', which had been heard by Irving Azoff, who was at the time compiling songs for the soundtrack of Amy Heckerling's soon to be hit movie, Fast Times At Ridgemont High, written by Cameron Crowe. The band had been writing and performing together since 1979, and had a large arsenal of original pop-rock material, most of which was never released to the public. Inclusion of this first single on the soundtrack boosted their name to MTV notoriety and earned them an eponymous full album released by MCA in 1984, which included a new version of Raised On The Radio, as well as MTV favorite, Don't Leave me This Way. Videos were corporately produced for those two songs, and after the band had been dropped from the MCA label, a third video for the song, Rhythm Of The Heart, was produced independently by Tim Rataczak and won the MTV Basement Tapes competition solely on viewer participation. Though no major label was procured after these events, the Ravyns continued to perform amazing live shows in the Baltimore area. A second studio album, Remnants, made up of demos produced by guitarist Rob Fahey, was released by the band in 1996, followed by the 2005 release of a live album, The Ravyns Live At Maxwells, recorded in a popular Baltimore night club by then DJ Mark Russo. History Repeats Itself is eleven original tunes penned and performed by The Ravyns between the years of 1980-1983. The songs were well-known by their fans, but never released to the public in studio form until 2014. Though the production is modern, the messages of the songs ring true of authentic 80s power pop and rock, carrying the Ravyns legacy to yet another generation of thirsty rock fans.
