IBM 8272 is a stand-alone high-speed switch, which can be configured to alternate automatically between cut-through and store-and-forward switching. IBM 8272-108 is 8-port unit (expandable to 12 ports) with (1) UFC module slot. The UFC modules slots can be used for additional Token Ring ports or as ATM and FDDI uplink modules. IBM 8272 automatically configures - just plug it in and it is up and running.
