As the one and only jazz club on Hermosa Beach, Rumsey's residency here became a stepping stone for up-and-coming musicians (notably including a young Max Roach) and established names alike and the band can be heard in full swing on this double album, with tracks including 'Softly, As in a Morning Sunrise', 'A Gal in Calico' and 'Oh, Look at Me Now'.
