NotesDoris Day retired from show business in 1972 when she declined to renew her hit TV show. Before television, she'd been a top box office movie star and best-selling recording artist. But here it was, 40 years later. Would people remember her? Would they still want to hear her songs? The answer was a resounding YES! We premiered "QUE SERA! Celebrating Doris Day" in northern Washington on April 2, 2011, the eve of Doris Day's 87th birthday. Tickets were sold out within days. The audience marveled at how well Kristi captured the look, sound and spirit of the beloved actress-singer, applauding each song, smiling, mouthing the words, and being moved to tears as the memories flooded back. Seeing the same response at every show inspired us to create this recording. So here are 11 of the 22 songs from "QUE SERA! Celebrating Doris Day." We sincerely hope you enjoy it as much as we did making it. Joan Merrill, Producer A note from Kristi As a young singer, I thought Doris Day had the most beautiful voice I had ever heard. I sang along with her records, wanting to emulate her phrasing and the sweet sound of her voice. I must have succeeded because people told me I looked and sounded like her. I considered this a great compliment. But doing the QUE SERA! Show and CD is the ultimate honor.
