James Gunn's directorial debut is an enjoyable horror movie, fusing the splatter and monster sub-genres, which begins when a courting couple, seeking privacy in the woods near small town Wheelsy, come across a just-landed meteorite. In no time at all, he's transformed into a toothy squid-like killing creature, while she becomes the breeder of deadly bloodthirsty slugs.
