With an ensemble cast and numerous simultaneous storylines, the series looked forward to shows like E.R., while the sometimes shocking material--ST. ELSEWHERE was the first show to portray a person with AIDS--forecast NYPD BLUE. Set in St. Eligius Hospital in South Boston, the show follows a cast of caring doctors and nurses who do their best with what they have in this under-funded, dilapidated establishment. Though the show is rife with comedy, it also doesn't shy away from tragedy, with characters--patients as well as primary characters--occasionally dying unexpectedly. This collection features all the episodes from the first series.
