The set begins with Carol Reed's ambitious 1965 Michelangelo biopic, THE AGONY AND THE ECSTASY, starring Charlton Heston and Rex Harrison in the tale of the painting of the Sistine Chapel; it then moves into John Huston's three-hour 1966 epic THE BIBLE...IN THE BEGINNING, with its massive, 18-million-dollar dramatization of the book of Genesis. The third feature, Delmer Daves' 1954 DEMETRIUS AND THE GLADIATORS, weaves the tale of the slave Demetrius (Victor Mature), who becomes a Christian but falls prey to the deadly clutches of Messalina and Caligula. Finally, Henry Koster's 1953 Best Picture nominee THE ROBE stars Richard Burton as Marcellus Gallio, whose life reaches a spectacular crossroads when he wins Christ's robe while gambling at the foot of the cross.
