Wes Anderson's comedy stars Owen Wilson, Adrien Brody and Jason Schwartzman as brothers Francis, Peter and Jack Whitman, who used to be close but haven't spoken to each other since their father's funeral. But when Francis survives a bad motorcycle crash, he is inspired to ask his siblings to join him on a train journey across India on The Darjeeling Limited train to visit their mother, who lives in a convent in the Himalayan foothills. However, the trio are thrown off the train after a misunderstanding involving pepper spray, and then encounter cobras, crocodiles and a village funeral. But in the course of their adventures, they learn to shed their emotional luggage (symbolised by the Louis Vuitton cases they lug around) as they attempt to re-establish a family bond.
