In THE BIG TREES (1952) Douglas is tough lumber baron Jim Fallon, intent on taking control of a forest valley, where a colony of Quakers have taken up residence. MY DEAR SECRETARY (1949) sees Douglas play author Owen Waterbury, who's playboy lifestyle disappoints his new secretary. As she becomes disenchanted by his flagrant interest in ladies over literature, Waterbury resorts to drastic measures to stop her leaving.
