Based on the series of graphic novels from Robert Kirkman, THE WALKING DEAD stars Andrew Lincoln as Rick, a lawman who wakes up from a coma to discover that a cataclysmic event has transformed much - though not all - of humanity into zombies. He goes searching for his wife and child amidst the post-apocalyptic horror, using his intelligence and training to stay alive. Eventually he reunites with his loved ones, who have gone on the run with a motley crew of survivors that include Rick's former partner on the force (Jon Bernthal), who has fallen in love with Rick's wife. The group must journey across the United States in search of a new home, evading the shuffling hordes of the undead. However as their situation grows more desperate and hazardous, the group are pushed to the brink of insanity. Written and executive produced by Frank Darabont. ReviewsEntertainment Weekly - The Walking Dead is beautifully shot, but what it's shooting are former humans with rotting skin and bleating agonized groans. And like the comics, there's great, grim humour., Wall Street Journal - What makes The Walking Dead so much more than a horror show is that it plays with theatrical grandeur [à] However, Walking is most breathtaking in its small moments, in which the pain and glory of being human are conveyed with only the flick of a filmmaking wrist., TV Guide - The Walking Dead [à] packs a raw, emotional punch while delivering the creepy and queasy thrills all genre fans truly crave., Variety - Producer-writer-director Frank Darabont has deftly tackled the seemingly perilous task of adapting a comic book about zombies into a viable episodic series.
