As they investigate Mulder's departure, Scully abandons her role as the skeptic and now plays the believer to Doggett's doubting Thomas. Season eight further developed the mythology that made the show so strong, with plots like Scully's pregnancy and the super soldiers. Annabeth Gish (DOUBLE JEOPARDY) joined the cast as Agent Monica Reyes in several episodes.
