His first ever solo album of Christmas music, What I Really Want for Christmas, named for it's Bernie Taupin-penned title track is an uplifting collection of new songs, traditional Christmas favourites and re- workings of Beach Boys yuletide classics. In addition to "What I Really Want for Christmas," with lyrics written by Taupin (Elton John's long-time lyricist), the new album features the newly-composed song "Christmasey," with lyrics by songwriting icon Jimmy Webb. Brian and his fantastic band bring a fresh vitality to the Beach Boys perennial favourites "Little Saint Nick" and "The Man with All the Toys," the two opening songs on 1964's essential the Beach Boys' Christmas Album.
