Val Kilmer stars as John Holmes, legendary porn star of huge talent but who, in the 80s, was out of films and into drugs. He falls in with gangster Eddie Nash (Eric Bogosian) who believes Holmes told a bunch of drugs dealers about his wealth and robbed him. Four are found beaten to death, the survivor incriminates Holmes but at trial, he's acquitted, although ex-wife Lisa Kudrow isn't so sure. James Cox's film, told in different time frames and almost from a Rashomon point of view, is a glimpse of the Los Angeles nightmare, where not everybody is a tooth-whitened Hollywood star.
