Skiing and Snowboarding
Popular snow sports such as skiing and snowboarding are sporting activities enjoyed around the world, at all times of the year. Excitingly with more indoor ski centres popping up worldwide, you don't have to travel far to go skiing or snowboarding to practice your techniques anymore!
Just like any sport or hobby it is important that you have the correct clothing, accessories and equipment so that you can have fun and be safe. There is a vast range of different skiing and snowboarding clothing, accessories and equipment available that come in all different designs, sizes, colours, types, brands and category.
Clothing
Skiing and snowboarding clothing comes in all different varieties that have been specifically designed for users to wear when hitting the slopes and therefore provide a layer of insulation, waterproof and durability. The types of clothing recommended to wear include a jacket, ski trousers also known as salopettes and thermal leggings and t-shirts.
Ski jackets , salopettes or all in one ski suits are made from a waterproof fabric material that is also windproof and soft inside padding. This material ensures you're able to store your body heat to keep you warm whilst offering lots of breathability to keep you ventilated when you're up in the mountains, making sure you don't overheat whilst exercising.
Thermal leggings are the perfect piece of clothing to wear under salopettes, made of a thicker lightweight material that acts as an additional layer, vital when out in the extreme mountainous weather conditions. This extra layer of clothing works by quickly absorbing sweat and body perspiration through a wicking method that helps clothing become more breathable and insulates heat.
Accessories and Equipment
Skiing and snowboarding accessories are typically very similar, with it being essential to invest in a good pair of goggles and sunglasses to keep your hands warm and eyes protected for good visibility on the slopes. You'll also require a pair of thick gloves or mittens to keep your hands warm from the cold, icy conditions.
Boots on the other hand do vary between the skiers and snowboarders amongst us. If you ski, the ski boot is of a harder material offering a great amount of protection to your ankles. Many find it beneficial to have their own ski boots, which overtime mold better to your foot shape as opposed to renting each time. This is a personal preference and is up to you depending on how comfortable you find the ski boots. On the other hand, snowboarding boots are slightly softer, comfier and easy to walk in attaching to the snowboard with each.
