About us

Since 2004 Candida Books and Collectibles has specialised in Ladybird Books and Collectibles. As a collector, I know how important clear accurate descriptions and photographs are for my customers. Also, protecting each Book with a free plastic removable sleeve part of my customers service for over 13 years.
As a child I grew up reading Ladybird Books, from format to content, their books are designed to help young readers and inspire learning.
Before Ladybird Books, Henry Wills in 1867 opened a bookshop in Loughborough and expanded his business into printing six years later. In 1904, William Hepworth became a partner and the company became Wills & Hepworth, though Wills retired shortly after. They first began publishing Ladybird Books in 1914 which were of a larger format one example is "The Fairies Book" in my Logo which is from the Ladybird Series. During WWII the iconic format that readers are familiar with today: a book of 56 pages in full colour, was printed.
