A trip to my local camera repair shop assessed that it had been re-assembled incorrectly (probably after refurbishment) and that it could be repaired for a moderate cost. The seller was slow to respond to initial messages, but refunded the repair cost promptly after receiving a copy of the receipt. I now have a beautiful, fully operational lens and am very happy with the outcome. The item was packed safely and posted promptly.
