You can't go wrong for the money.
Apart from a few test shots i didn't use the lens in earnest unil a few days ago. I have to say i was very impressed with the lens. I previously had the Sigma 18-125 and although the zoom range was impressive the compromise in image quality was quite pronounced. I feel the 17-70 with its shorter range has the range/image quality trade off about right. The wider maximum aperture is an added attraction for me and the stabiliser is very effective. I'm using the lens with a Canon EOS 50D and they work very well together. Another useful point is the front lens does not rotate during focus which makes using a polariser a dawdle. A word of warning, the filter thread is 72mm so polarisers ain't cheap, shop around. To conclude, i'm really happy with this lens, it isn't perfect but it is excellent for the money.
