I think the previous reviewer must have bought a faulty one. Mine works fine and can't grumble for the price, obviously it's not going to be super dooper but fine for kids and mine detects coins from a few inches.

My Mrs says it works great. Comes in bag so be careful when opening with scissors! No instructions but plenty on u tube. Just add half litre warm water.leave for 20 mins and repeat. Press a little so insides become squagy to absorb water like a new sponge. Roll gently to squeeze out excess air and close lid. Put flat if poss in fridge half hour before bed. Take out and place plastic side up to be against your face when inside pillow case. Just put back in fridge and repeat each nite.No need to add more water really. Enjoy cool night sleep
