About

Deb and I collect things we like such as vintage dolls and pottery, and all kinds of ephemera. We only buy things that we want for our own collections. But when it's time to sell we describe our items accurately, and price them fairly. And we package and mail them as carefully and quickly as we can. As buyers ourselves, we know how important that is!

A Knockout of a Book
I've been a fan of Teddy Atlas' for years, having enjoyed his commentary on ESPN 2. I could tell he knew a lot about the sport, of course. But I also could see that boxers really respected him. This book explains why. Teddy came up the hard way despite the trappings of a comfortable middle-class life. His dad was a doctor, but Teddy was his own man. This book recounts the many scrapes he got into (including jail time at Rikers), his brief career as a boxer, and the stories behind the boxers he trained. There are many shocking moments here, including the time Teddy held a gun to Mike Tyson's head. (You read that right.) This is a book I'll always keep at hand, and re-read now and again for the sheer inspiration of it.

Moving Record of 9-11 and its Aftermath
There are many books that capture some aspect of 9-11, but they do it with words. This visual record, featuring oversized full-page color pictures, will move you in a way that words just can't. It's been 5 years now since that horrible day, and some of the memories have faded. That's self preservation I suppose. This book brings those memories back, if only for a short while. The commentary accompanying the pictures is excellent--so many writers have tried to capture that day in some way, but the Times writers succeeded where others failed.

Illuminating and Sad, but Recomended
This is the official record compiled by the U.S. government of "9-11." It covers what led up to the attacks, as well as painstaking details of how the attacks commenced, and then what the official reaction was as they were occuring. It takes you inside the cockpits, air traffic control towers, and unfortunately inside hell itself. The least we can do to honor the 2700 victims is to read this book.
