Marketing breakthrough
This product isn't so much a technological breakthrough in shaving as a marketing breakthrough in turning electronic shaving into a revenue stream by introducing a critical component as a consumable. That would be all well and good if it actually delivered a good shaving experience - but sadly it doesn't. It is an enormous let down.
Over a 7 day period I have compared the shave to my old shaver and a conventional disposable razor. By far the best shave and trim is the old shaver which happens to be Philips (QS6140).
The shaving technique with one blade is more a kin to a razor which is quite intuitive. The unit is light and easy to grip and maneuver. The head glides easily over the skin and feels smooth. Unfortunately it doesn't cut very well. It requires quite a lot of effort to get anything like an acceptable shave. And I hate to think how frustrating it would become once the blades start to lose their edge before one decides to fork out for a replacement.
This is probably a product for the infrequent shaver who wears significant facial hair or designer stubble.
