The item was in fact authentic. However, it was not working properly. The battery inside of it was dead and could not hold the save. This is pretty common amongst old game boy games. However, the price of a dead battery copy is way less than a authentic working copy. I paid authentic and working copy price. Luckily I had the skills to fix it myself if I didn't I would not have been happy with the product. That being said once I replace the battery everything worked great and it was authentic.
