Arabesque - Pro Arte Guitar Trio
I founded the Pro Arte Trio in 1987 and played with all the various formations of the group until it's demise in 2011 following the death of member Richard Hand. Arabesque features guitar trio arrangements of piano music, mostly by myself, of works by Debussy, Ravel and Erik Satie. Arabesque, recorded in 1990 was the second in a series of CDs made by the trio for the small independent company ASV. The PAGT became known for their use of non-standard instruments such as Requinto and eight string guitars. These not only extended the trio's compass but also brought a wider range of texture and colour to their performance. Arabesque was I feel, the best of the trio's recordings and this disc brings back many fond memories I have of working with my then colleagues Simon Munting and Cornelius Bruinsma in the early days of the PAGT.
