More explanation of Policing structures in Venice would have been helpful
I bought this on the recommendation of a "reading" friend, who loves this author and told me to start with this book! Whilst enjoying it to a degree, - its description of Italy and especially Venice was evocative, nonetheless the Italian phrases used, presuming knowledge of the structures and organisation of Venice, not least the way the local political systems, and police forces work could have been explained more clearly and would have, at least for me, helped with the intricacies of the plot. I am not sure that I will seek out another of her books, though would not disregard it should one come to hand.
