Universal Aluminum Oil Catch Tank Cylinder Catch Reservoir Car Can Breather Kit
29 May, 2018
Excellent product.
I was surprised by the quality of this product, it being an unbranded version of a more expensive can. This catch can is a hefty piece, with excellent build quality. I see no reason why it won't last forever. I'm using the can on my 1996 Mustang Cobra. I attached the 3/8 inch fittings with teflon tape, and the can is vacuum tight. I added some stainless steel scrubber material inside the media compartment, and the can catches virtually ALL the oil from my PCV system; the tube leading from the catch can to my intake is bone dry (see picture), whereas before installing the can, it was always soaked with oil. (Before adding the mesh, the can caught some oil, but still let some pass through into the intake). I used longer lines than necessary, thinking it would help the can scavenge more oil, but with mesh added to the element compartment, I don't think this is needed. I rigged up my own mounting brackets, with bits from Home Depot. Well worth the time. This can has been excellent. I've caught a little under a teaspoon of oil in a little over 100 miles. I highly recommend this catch can.
96 Mustang GT or Cobra Mishimoto Aluminum Radiator w/ Stabilizer (Manual)
19 May, 2020
Finally solved my '96 Cobra cooling issues.
I'd tried everything, in the past 7 years, to make my '96 Cobra run cooler. With a stock replacement radiator, even with a less-dense 97+ AC condenser, in hot weather, with AC running, the motor would run at over 235° at times, even driving gently. It would run at 225° on the highway. I actually had to replace a blown head gasket a couple years ago. Since installing the Mishimoto radiator, it runs between 192 and 210°, no matter what. Even flogging the car in 90° weather, I couldn't get it hotter than that. This is with a stock thermostat and fan settings, so I could easily make it run even cooler if I wanted. This is the perfect operating range though, as far as I'm concerned. Just one note on the install. I had to cut a notch in the bottom rail of the radiator, so it would clear the overflow tank prop-rod mount. It took about 10 minutes with a Dremel. You may or may not have to do this, as I think there are a couple different styles of prop rod that were used on these cars. Other than that, the install was easy. The fit and finish on this radiator are great, and the warranty is incredible. I used the Mishimoto mounts, btw, which allow the radiator to float and flex. Anyhow, I highly recommend this radiator.
