International alcohol sales
Keep in mind that these rules for the sale of alcohol apply only to items for sale on eBay.co.uk and eBay.ie. Alcohol may not be sold on some international eBay sites depending on local law. Please check the rules of each international eBay site to find out what is allowed.
What are the guidelines?
Alcohol and alcohol kits
Allowed
- Beer/wine making kits
- Foods with alcoholic ingredients and flavouring (such as liquor-filled chocolates, rum cake, and other items) as long as the item complies with our Food policy.
- Hops, seeds for hops, and other raw materials to make beer or wine
Restricted
- Empty alcohol bottles and containers (images in the listing must show item is empty)
Not allowed
- Alcohol products
- Liquor licenses
Alcohol-related collectables
Allowed
- Alcohol-related memorabilia, including empty wine, liquor, and beer containers
Not allowed
- Collectible alcohol containers if they still contain any alcoholic content
- Open containers of alcohol
Activity on eBay is required to follow this policy, the eBay User Agreement and all applicable laws, as well as respect the rights of third parties. If it doesn’t, eBay may take action consistent with applicable laws and the eBay User Agreement, and may even be legally required to do so. Such actions may include, as an example only: Removing the listing or other content, issuing a warning, restricting activity or account suspension.
Why does eBay have this policy?
We want to make sure buyers and sellers understand and follow all laws and regulations concerning the sale of alcohol. Certain alcoholic products are prohibited by law and could harm members, so these products may not be sold on eBay.
